WHAT ARE CARRIER OILS?

Carrier oils are plant-based products that are used to dilute essential oils and make them less potent to avoid skin irritation. They blend well with essential oils and don’t interfere with their therapeutic properties.

Intended for topical application, carrier oils may be used to nourish the skin. They may be paired with other oils but they may also be used alone.

Choose The Right Carrier Oil for You

There is a wide selection of carrier oils. Choosing the right one for you may depend on a few considerations.

Scent

Most carrier oils have a neutral smell but there are those with a distinct scent that may change the aroma of essential oils when diluted.

Skin Type

Choose a carrier oil that can be easily absorbed by your skin. Take note that skin sensitivity differs. What works for others may irritate those with sensitive skin.

Storage

To retain the quality of carrier oils and maximize their shelf life, it is recommended to store them in their original air-tight containers and leave them in a cool, dark place.

Shelf-Life

Generally, carrier oils remain good for longer periods. However, some also have a limited shelf life. Carrier oils with a longer shelf life may last for a year. Those with shorter shelf life may be used for up to six months.
